Sub: Intimation regarding major changes introduced in Customs - Reg.

The trade is hereby informed that certain changes have been effected in the rates of Customs and Central Excise Duties, Baggage Rules, as well as Inland Air Travel Tax and Foreign Travel Tax vide Notification Nos 5 to 16/2004 -Customs, 5/2004 -Customs (NT), 1/2004-IATT, 1/2004-FTT, 2&3/2004-Cen Ex , and 1/2004-CE(NT) , all dated the 8th January,2004.

The changes relating to the Tariff effected by the aforesaid Notifications (unless otherwise indicated in the Notification) come into force with effect from 9th January 2004. The salient features of changes in respect of Customs duties,Baggage Rules,IATT and FTT are given in the letter of Joint Secretary (TRU) , CBEC enclosed to this notice. A list of the notifications is also enclosed.
