1.>            In continuation to the Public Notice No. 71/06 dated 14.06.2006 issued by this Commissionerate wherein it was informed that with effect from 1^st July, 2006, the Custom House Agents (CHA) will not be able to use their current registrations and will have to use their newly issued PAN based registrations.

2.>        In this regard, it is hereby informed that the registration of CHAs in Indian Customs EDI System (ICES) both in the new PAN based directory and the old ICES CHA Directory will stop with effect from 15^th July, 2006. Pending registration may be completed latest by 1700 hrs on 14^th July, 2006. This applies to any amendments to the existing registration as well.

3.>         With effect from 14^th July, 2006, the current facility for updation of the CHA Directory (both old and PAN Based) will be withdrawn. New CHA registrations/amendments in the CHA directories will be suspended for the period starting from 14^th July, 2006 to 31^st July, 2006. However, in this period the existing CHA registrations will not be de-activated and filing of documents by CHAs can continue based on existing registrations. By 31^st July, 2006, the new PAN based CHA system will be replicated at all locations.

4.>         The Custom House Agents Association is required to give wide publicity to this Notice and work towards the timely completion of the above exercise.
