PUBLIC NOTICE NO.76 /2009 – CUS

 

All the Custom House Agents are hereby informed that the Category ‘G’ examination under Regulation 19 of the Custom House Agents Licensing Regulation, 2004 will be conducted during 3rd week of January,2010 and the details of examination are as below:-

 

2.         The Category ‘G’ examination shall include a written and oral examination.  The written and oral examination will be for 100 marks each  and the minimum qualifying marks will be  50 marks under each category. An applicant will be declared to have passed in the examination only when he secures minimum 50 marks in both written  and oral test.  Each applicant would be permitted to avail of maximum of four chances / attempts to qualify in the written and oral examination from the date of his / her first appearance / date of appointment with the present CHA whichever is earlier. It is also informed that those employees who have failed to qualify in the last three examinations must ensure that, if they appear, they will have to qualify in the ensuing examination failing which they will not be allowed to appear in the next Category ‘G’ Examination.

 

Example: A person who qualifies in the written examination in the first chance / attempt but fails to qualify in the oral exam linked to the written examination will get another three chances / attempts for oral examination.  If a person qualifies only in his fourth (last) chance / attempt in the written examination, he will get only one chance for oral examination linked to the written examination.

3.         On qualifying in the said examination (written and oral) an employee of the CHA will become eligible for issue of G – card by this office and he will, after having been duly authorized by the CHA by way of power of attorney and after approval by the Department, will become eligible to sign the declarations on the B/Es, S/Bs and annexures thereof on behalf of the CHA as specified under Regulation 19(5) of CHALR, 2004.

 

 

 

4.         ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR  FOR CATEGORY ‘G’ EXAMINATION:

 

a)                 Director / partner / employee of the CHAs holding ‘H’ cards issued by this commissionerate and who have passed 10+2 or equivalent Exam are eligible to apply for the exam.

 

5.         However, since there are more than 500 CHA employees who have been issued  with H cards, it is not possible to conduct the examination in respect of  all the employees at one go. Therefore, while sponsoring the names of employees for the G – Card examination, the concerned CHAs are instructed to sponsor the names of only those employees who are eligible / willing and really interested to take up the examination. CHAs are instructed to sponsor not more than 4 employees or one third of their total strength of H card holders, whichever is more, for the examination, depending on the seniority and competence of their employees. While sponsoring the applicants, the CHAs should ensure that the H cards issued to their employees are valid. After getting the applications of the eligible candidates as above, the list of such applicants may be submitted to this office in the following format along with the concerned applications, which are to be filed by each employee in the prescribed format (Annexure – A).

6.         On passing the written examination they will have to appear for the Oral Test, the date for which will be notified later.  Further, depending on the number of candidates, the oral Test will be conducted in phases.  All the Custom House Agents are accordingly instructed  to ensure that their employees prepare themselves for the said examination.

7.         After scrutiny of the applications, the names and the Roll Numbers of the eligible candidates, time, date and venue of the Written Examination will displayed on the Notice Board of  Bangalore Cusoms Commissionerte, on 4th Floor, Annex Building, C.R. Building,

Queens Road, Bangalore-1,  a copy of which will also be sent to the CHA Associations.  The CHA’s / candidates will NOT be informed separately. The CHA Associations shall ensure that the eligible candidates and the respective CHAs are informed of the examination timing without fail

 

8.         The following documents have to be enclosed along with each application:-

(a)               a copy of the H card duly attested by the applicant / CHA.

(b)               Attested Photo Copy of 10+2 passed or equivalent exam (Original Certificates to be shown for verification at the time of submission of applications).

(c)               Declaration on previous attempts of the ‘G’ Card exam.


9.         All the CHA’s are directed to ensure that the information given in respect of their employees is  true and correct.  Any mis-declaration will be viewed seriously and suitable action will be initiated in accordance to CHALR, 2004 and they will not be allowed to write the examination. The applications received from the eligible employees may be submitted to this office in one lot by the respective CHA’s with a copy to the CHA Association, on or before  21.12.2009.

 

10.       Applications, which are not in the prescribed format or are not received before 4.00 P.M. on  21.12.2009, will not be entertained under any circumstances.

 

11.       All Custom House Agents are directed to submit the list and the applications of their present employees who are eligible and willing to appear for the above said Written Examination.  The exact  date, time and venue of the written examination will be intimated in due course.
