1>        The trade is hereby informed that consequent upon introduction of the Finance Bill,2006 in Lok Sabha on 28.02.2006 certain changes in Customs Tariff/ Central Excise Tariff have been affected. Certain amendments have also been sought to be made to the Customs Act,1962.

 2.>         In this connection, copy of the J.S.(TRU)s D.O.F. No.334/3/2006 TRU dated 28.02.06 along with Explanatory Notes ( Customs/Central Excise) indicating the important changes made in both the Customs & Central Excise duties by the Finance Bill 2006 is enclosed herewith. For details of changes made in the Customs and Central Excise duties by the Finance Bill 2006, the relevant Notifications may be referred to.

 3.>         The changes relating to the Tariff effected by the Finance Bill 2006 & the Notifications ( unless otherwise indicated in the Bill or any Notification) come into force from the midnight of 28.02.2006/01.03.2006. The proposed amendments to the Customs Act,1962 will take effect from the date of enactment of the Finance Bill.

 4.>         Any problems or difficulties may be brought to the notice of the Joint Commissioner of Customs (Tech), Headquarters, Bangalore.
